Product Design & Development Engineer

• Develop designs for new products that are reliable, cost effective, and easily manufactured.
• Assess new engineering projects for viability (design limitations, cost concerns, functionality and tradeoffs). Present these issues to the engineering team along with recommendations for resolution.
• Estimate material/fabrication costs for new products and processes – execute product /process development to cost targets and communicate cost vs. performance conflicts early in the design
• Work with Purchasing, Outside Vendors and Internal Machine Shop as prototype parts are fabricated to ensure designs are manufacturable and easily inspected
• Organize BOM for prototype build, supervise RFQ process, and conduct (or supervise) prototype build.
• Ability to provide input for simulations and interpret results and implement learnings to optimize design
• Participate in regular DFMEA activities and incorporate design solutions to prevent high risk scenarios.

Specialized knowledge /education
Advanced Engineering Degree
(preferably Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent field) experience in automotive Mfg. industry is preferred
